TOEFL Exam Results and Score

TOEFL Score

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) test, administered by ETS, is one of the most extensively utilised English proficiency exams for Indian students wishing to study in other countries. TOEFL scores are required as part of the university admission process. Candidates can consult our comprehensive TOEFL guide for students preparing to take the TOEFL test.

In light of the pandemic, ETS, the TOEFL exam's administering authority, has established the TOEFL at Home for applicants who want to take the TOEFL exam from the comfort of their own homes during the epidemic. ETS has also reintroduced TOEFL paper-delivered exams in India in order to give more students with access to the TOEFL exam. Candidates who intend to take the TOEFL test must pay US$190 for all three versions of the test, TOEFL iBT, TOEFL at Home, and TOEFL paper-delivered.

TOEFL Score Validity

TOEFL scores are deemed expired after two years. Remember that your TOEFL score will be accessible in 6 to 7 business days. You will receive your TOEFL result within 6 days after taking the exam, and they will receive their PDF scores within 8 days.

The validity of the TOEFL exam begins on the day the exam is taken, not on the day the results are published. To be more explicit, the TOEFL exam has a validity period of two years from the date of administration. Moving on to the TOEFL validity time, it is not feasible to prolong the validity term of the TOEFL test. In reality, there is no way to prolong the TOEFL validity years.

TOEFL Score Range

To understand the TOEFL results you obtain for each TOEFL component, you must first understand how the TOEFL exam is assessed.

What is a Good TOEFL Score?

Many top colleges and institutes in the United States and other major overseas education destinations frequently need a TOEFL score of 79 or 80. Aside from that, several institutions have TOEFL cut-off scores for each section. As a result, experts typically suggest candidates to double-check the TOEFL score requirements specified by the college/university to which they are applying.

Candidates are frequently left wondering what a decent TOEFL score is. As previously stated, each university will have its own TOEFL score requirement, commonly known as the TOEFL cut-off. As a result, any score above the TOEFL cut-off would automatically qualify their application. Students are recommended to obtain better TOEFL scores than are necessary because this will only boost their chances of admission to their preferred university.

TOEFL vs IELTS Score

The TOEFL Speaking and Writing sections are graded mostly on their appearance, which includes your vocabulary range, writing style, and grammar. The IELTS is graded based on certain criteria such as logic, coherence, grammar, and fluency. An essay with a logical flow of ideas but poor grammar, for example, may score higher on a TOEFL exam, whereas an essay with superb grammar and vocabulary but a lower ability to express a notion may score higher on IELTS criteria. The IELTS is graded on a scale of 1-9, with your overall score being the average of your individual results in each of the four tests. If your overall average is 6.25, your final score will be rounded up to 6.5. TOEFL is a single examination with a maximum score of 120 points.
The overall scores of the TOEFL and IELTS may be roughly compared as follows:

TOEFL Score Report

Now that we have gone through the most important features of the TOEFL scores. Let us take a look at TOEFL Score Reporting and what does it mean. When you register for the TOEFL test you designate up to four universities who would receive your TOEFL Scores, this is part of your TOEFL fee. Candidates who wish to send their TOEFL scorecards to more universities than the designated four can do so by paying an extra fee to ETS.

However, candidates should want to know that if they have designated universities to receive your TOEFL results then the candidate will not be able to select a score review of their Writing and/or Speaking sections.
