IELTS Enquiry on Results

As a study-abroad aspirant, you must have come across the term IELTS. Its abbreviation - International English Language Testing System, is an internationally-acclaimed English Language proficiency exam conducted globally to test the competency in the English Language of the non-native English speakers.

IELTS is scored in a 9-band scale, and is one of the oft-chosen tests by international students. A good IELTS score is a pre-requisite to get admission to several top-ranked universities in the world.

The exam has four sections - Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing (LSRW). Each section has been assigned a specific score, which tests your level of English in that category. You will have to score a minimum band in each section to clear the exam. On the whole, your score should reach an average of a minimum band of 6 combined all the four sections to pass the exam successfully.

What is the Enquiry on Results (EOR) in IELTS?

Enquiry on Results (EOR) in IELTS, called a “Remark” off the record, is an enquiry students can make if they believe they are scored less than they deserve. EORs can be raised for both IELTS Academic and IELTS General.

  • EOR is generally an enquiry form that students are requested to fill out and send to the test centres they attended for the IELTS exam.
  • To submit the EOR form, students should pay a service fee which is non-refundable on terms and conditions.
  • If scores are changed (increased), the whole fee will be refunded.
  • EORs should be submitted within six weeks of the test being taken.
  • If the deadline falls on a Saturday, Sunday or any holiday, students should submit the form on the preceding day of the week, i.e. Friday before 9 in the morning.
EOR can be raised for a separate section or all of the sections. But the fee remains the same irrespective of the number of sections chosen.

Things to Know Before Requesting an Enquiry of Results (EOR)

  • To successfully submit your EOR form, you should completely fill in all the sections and attach your proof of payment of your service fee.
  • The re-mark or re-evaluation is done by a new senior examiner employed by the British Council or IDP.
  • Your new examiner will not be told of the scores you scored initially in the exam.
  • The Service fee for raising an EOR is determined by Test Partners conducting the IELTS exam.
  • You can raise an EOR only once.
  • Your new score, either changed or unchanged will be available within 2 to 21 days of your EOR submission.
  • If you are dissatisfied even with your EOR mark, you can start the appeals process, which your test center will take care of.
  • If your test results are changed after the EOR submission, you are required to return your old Test Report Form (which is your score certificate).
  • Only with the return of your old Test Report Form, your new Test Report Form with the changed score will be issued.
  • The EOR Service fee usually ranges between US $90 to US $130.

Steps to Filling out the Enquiry on Results Form (EOR)

Filling the EOR form is as similar as filling out any other forms. Just remember to fill all the sections without leaving any empty space, otherwise the EOR form will not be considered for re-mark. There are no particular steps to fill out the EOR form. Just follow the given instructions said in the form or as per by your test center.

The information most asked are your Name, your exam number, your test center name, your test center number, your address, the type of IELTS exam you attended (IELTS on Paper or IELTS on Computer), the test/tests you want it to be re-marked (Listening/Speaking/Reading or Writing or all of them) and finally your signature and the date.

Fee for IELTS Enquiry on Results (EOR)

The Service fee for submitting the EOR form usually ranges between US $90 to US $150. In Indian Rupees, it is INR 7,345 to INR 10,610.
