Steps to Get PR in the UK After Studies

Step 1: Get Accepted into a UK University

• Initial Requirement: Admission into a UK university is the first step towards your goal of obtaining PR.
• Common Requirements Include:
  • Academic transcripts and mark sheets.
  • Proof of English language proficiency (IELTS,  TOEFL, etc.).
  • Statement of Purpose (SOP) detailing your academic and professional goals.
  • Letters of Recommendation (LOR) from previous instructors or employers.
  • Certificates showcasing extracurricular activities and achievements.

Step 2: Secure a Student Visa

• Visa Type: A Tier 4 student visa is essential for international students, allowing for a longer stay and the possibility of transitioning to PR.
• Essential Documents:
  • A current and valid passport.
  • A completed visa application form.
  • Recent passport-sized photographs.
  • Financial evidence demonstrating your ability to support yourself during your studies.
  • Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) form from your institution.
  • Results from a tuberculosis test.
  • Proof of English language proficiency.
• Fees: The application fee for a student visa is £330, with an additional healthcare surcharge of £150 per year to cover medical expenses.

What are the Documents Required to Get PR in the UK?

Permanent Residency (PR) applications generally take six months to approve. The application processing charge for a PR settlement or Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) in the UK is GBP 2389. You will also be charged an additional GBP 19.20 for biometric data such as fingerprints and photos. You also have the option to submit in-person applications. They can be in one of the following categories.

1. Priority service: If you choose this, you will receive a statement within five working days but must pay an additional GBP 500. The total amount will then be GBP 2899.
2. Super priority service: If you opt for this, you will receive the statement the very next day of submitting the biometric details. The additional fee will be GBP 800, and the total amount will come to GBP 3189.
