Designated Learning Institutions(DLI) in Canada

Canada's educational system is highly regarded for providing advanced information, training, and research possibilities. Nevertheless, only some universities/colleges are popular with international students. Why is this the case? In Canada, educational institutions are classified into two types: DLIs and non-DLIs. The government has designated DLIs, or Designated Learning Institutes, to provide all facilities for overseas students. Also, you may only obtain your study permission through DLI Canada. To amend any terms and conditions as a student in Canada, you must submit a valid DLI number on your study permit application form (IMM 1294) and college application form (IMM 5709).

As a result, selecting the finest DLI schools in Canada is critical for you to study and stay as an international student. You should be aware of Canada's recognised learning institution list. In this article, we will go over all you need to know about DLI Canada, including how to alter your DLI number, DLI list Canada, and other commonly asked questions.

What is DLI in Canada?

In Canada, a Designated Learning Institution is a college or university that has been designated by a province or territory government to accept students from all over the world. DLI colleges play a significant part in obtaining your Study Permit in Canada. In Canada, there is a comprehensive list of DLI-approved colleges. Permission from a college on the DLI Canada list is, in fact, one of the necessary eligibility conditions for international students to study in Canada.

  • This criteria went into effect on June 1, 2014. According to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulation (IRPR), an international student who wishes to study in Canada for more than six months must get a Letter of Admission from a DLI Canada.
  • In the study permit application form, the student is requested to include the DLI number (DLI#) beginning with Letter 'O'. As a result, if you want to apply, you must verify the DLI number of the different DLI schools in Canada.

Canada's DLI-approved colleges

Each province or territory in Canada is responsible for identifying schools that accept international students at the post-secondary level. Colleges, universities, CEGEPs, private career colleges, and vocational and language schools may be included on the list of Designated Learning Institutions. Nonetheless, there are notable exceptions in the case of several Quebec colleges. Although being designated by the provincial government, they do not have a DLI number.

There are three primary reasons to select a Designated Learning Institution in Canada. These are their names:

  • In Canada, DLI colleges are overseen by the federal government or an agency.
  • They meet all of the provincial standards for higher education in Canada.
  • Degrees or certificates from DLI institutions in Canada are recognised internationally.
